My lunch buddy at work was laid off today. I feel horrible. We were on the same team a year ago. Our team was disbanded when we were outsourced to Ireland. So he was forced to go into new job, now this new area was forced to go through a position migration and everyone had to re-interview for their jobs, he found out today that he didnt make the cut. They told everyone that once you found out you didnt get a job you had 60 days to find another one within the company. However today they took his badge and told him he couldnt come back. He could keep interviewing though.

If our first team had not left the country we would still have our old jobs and he would still be employed. Why do we ship these jobs overseas? To save a few bucks. To make the CEOs bonus go up a million dollars. Capitalism is for the birds. The government needs to step in and do something about this. Was IT not a huge reason for the economic boom in the late 90s? How can we let an entire industry go overseas? Cant we embargo the imported man-hours some how?

I am seriously contemplating a career change. Law School, teacher, investor, porn star, anything with a brighter future, maybe I should become a funeral director. Thatd be a boost. Seeing dead people everyday would really force you to appreciate day-to-day life. Well lunch buddy, I have one thing to say, One Door Closes and another one Opens may the new door be more prosperous than the last.
